Works in the sunlight…but does take a pause as a cloud passes. It’s well built and very soothing. You will need to hose out the little pump every couple of weeks though as it does get gonked up…but it’s no big deal.

On the negative side: It’s so sensitive to the sun that it doesnt work unless the sun is shining directly on the solar panel. That means it doesnt work in the early morning or late afternoon.

It’s handsome, well-designed, and works beautifully. The water depth is perfect: deep enough for the bigger birds, but not too deep for the little goldfinches.

The solar fountain works better than I expected: this time of year, the fountain starts to burble at around 9am, and keeps going until 5pm; the gentle splashing sound is very soothing.

Design features that I particularly appreciate are the included copper disc, with which one replaces the solar fountain in the winter (I assume the solar panel might be harmed if the water above it froze), and the fact that the base can be filled with sand or gravel for greater stability.

My only less-than-glowing comment is that the copper is a bit thin, and might dent if smacked with, say, a speeding soccer ball.

When the sun is out the fountain runs and sounds like a little brook. There is a slight underlying hum of the motor working when you are up close, but the birds are beginning to get used to it.

Since it’s a solar fountain it will not work unless the sun is shining directly on it, which is most of the day for me. I find it’s a nice accent without having to rewire the whole yard to incorporate a fountain.

The only thing I would change about it is that I would prefer it to have a place to fill it with sand (and maybe there is but I missed it when putting it together) to make the unit heavier, but it’s not as though it blows over anyway.

I have to check on the water every day or every other day. Remove the solar panel/water pump to dump the dirty water (that I didn’t know was dirty because all the junk was hiding in the chamber under the panel).

I spray it out with the strong stream on my hose, stand it back up and adjust it so it’s level and fill it up.

The water coming out of the fountain isn’t pushed hard so it’s a very soothing sound.

The panel doesn’t store energy so it doesn’t run at night and if the sun goes behind a cloud it doesn’t run. It comes with a panel that is the same material as the bath so you don’t have to use the fountain.

Be advised, this fountain doesn’t have a solar collecting panel, just a direct sunlight panel that powers it…that means no fountain on cloudy days or nighttime. If the sun comes and goes, you get a gurgle.

I just gave up on the panel and plugged it in. It’s wonderfully large, easy to maintain and everyone loves it. Very soothing at the end of a hard day.

The shallow bowl means having to constantly fill it with water because of evaporation. Still, I was satisfied with it and it lasted over two years. The metal stand finally rusted away and fell apart and the pump corroded, which could probably be replaced for a few bucks.

Great item. Pumps water easily as long as the sun is out. Perfect for small water fountains. You can get the solar battery pack and it will run at night as well for a few hours.

If the sun doesn’t shine the pump doesn’t pump.  The motor in the pump needed a bit of convincing to get pumping. I disassembled the front cover to the pump and turned the pump by hand and that seemed to do the trick.
